Friday Favs: Black-owned businesses

From May 31 through June 6, social media feeds were flooded with support for the Black Lives Matter movement as protests were organized across the world following the death of George Floyd. Since then, many people have gone quiet on the topic but that does NOT mean that the movement has lost momentum. I’ve seen a lot of people post on social media wondering how else they can support the Black community and the BLM movement. One very simple way to show your support is to make a conscious effort to support Black-owned businesses. So, it’s only fitting that I share three of my favorite Black-owned businesses in Cincinnati!

Disclaimer: I have not personally visited all of these businesses, but they have been high on my must-visit list for some time now and I fully intend on visiting them in the near future!

Muse Cafe
I’m sure no one is surprised that the first business on my list is a coffee shop 😉 As a lifelong westsider, I am ALWAYS excited to see new mom & pop shops opening up on this side of town. So, when Muse first opened I was eager to visit … and it’s been one of my favorite westside cafes ever since! Muse specializes not only in gourmet coffee & pastries, but also doubles as a wine bar so you get the best of both worlds!

The Confetti Room
The first introduction I had to The Confetti Room was when I was assigned to write about it for Cincinnati Magazine, and ever since I have been planning my perfect engagement party at the Over-the-Rhine venue [no, I’m not anywhere near getting married but a girl can still plan for it when the day comes, right?]. The Confetti Room allows hosts to choose from a variety of furniture and decor to create the perfect ~aesthetically pleasing~ vibe for their special party!

Sweet Petite Desserts
The worst part about having a sweet tooth? The inevitable dilemma of having to choose which dessert to indulge in. Fortunately, Sweet Petite Desserts offers petite-sized delicacies like key lime pie and cheesecake so that you can have a little taste of all of your favorites! For someone with a sweet tooth as strong as mine, Sweet Petite Desserts is at the top of my must-taste bakery list.
